Select Question for Answer

  • Q. How much does it cost to apply?

    A. It costs nothing to apply. You are not required to pay any fees or make any financial commitment until you have been approved for a course.
  • Q. What is the application process?

    A. Full details of the application process can be found in the “Next Steps” section. Typically we will require a completed application/enrolment form, copies of certificates/transcripts, details of your work history and written references.
  • Q. Do you accept credit transfer?

    A. Credit transfer is available for Ashworth College Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree courses. Credit transfer is also considered for a limited number of University of Leicester courses. Contact your local EFA office for more details.
  • Q. When is my first payment due?

    A. Payment is due prior to the start of each course, once you have been formally offered a place.
  • Q. Can I pay by instalments?

    A. Yes. Interest‐free payment plans are available for all courses.
  • Q. I have no qualifications. Can I still apply?

    A. Yes. We offer a wide range of courses to suit all levels. Our academic partners will consider both work experience and qualifications for entry. The level of study will depend on the number of years and level of your experience. An EFA admissions advisor can provide more specific direction on this.
  • Q. What do the fees cover?

    A. Fees cover all study materials, textbooks and academic support. In some cases, you may be required to pay an exam fee. Check with your local EFA office for full details.
  • Q. Will my certificate indicate I studied by distance learning?

    A. Your final certificate will not indicate the method of study, only the qualification you have earned. Earning a degree by distance/online learning means you have earned the exact same award you would earn if you studied on a campus.
  • Q. How does distance learning work?

    A. Distance learning is designed to provide you with a more flexible approach to your studies. Typically persons studying by distance learning are working full‐time, have families and need more flexibility. Courses are designed with minimum and maximum timeframes for completion. This means, the more hours you can study per week, the faster you finish. You will be provided with a variety of resources including tailored study modules, textbooks, a variety of online resources, social networking, library services etc. Everything you need to complete your courses is at your fingertips. In addition, EFA provide a range of local support services to make the process a more supportive and interactive experience.
  • Q. Will I need to purchase any textbooks?

    A. All necessary textbooks are provided, so you are not required to purchase any additional books or resources.
  • Q. Can I graduate on campus?

    A. Definitely! Our academic partners offer regular graduation ceremonies. If you are unable to attend, don't worry as EFA also offer regional graduation celebrations.
  • Q. Will I need access to a computer?

    A. Although you are provided with printed study materials, you will typically need access to the internet throughout your studies.
  • Q. How many hours will I need to study per week?

    A. This will typically depend on the specific course, but we generally recommend between 8‐10 hours per week for undergraduate courses and 12‐15 per week for masters courses.
  • Q. How will I be assessed?

    A. Most courses will have some form of ongoing assessment in the form of an assignment or examination. Assignments are prepared and submitted from home, and examinations are typically proctored at a local educational institution.
  • Q. Are the degrees accredited?

    A. We work with fully accredited institutions that are accredited to international standards.
  • Q. What happens if I am unable to study?

    A. The great thing about studying by distance learning is that you have much more flexibility than studying in a classroom. Depending on the situation, you can request extensions to submit assignments, defer examinations or even suspend your studies for a period of time. Our team is on hand to advise you of the best option to suit your particular circumstances.
  • Q. Do I have contact with other students?

    A. Absolutely! Not only will you have access to other students through the online portal and social network sites. You also have the option to sign up for contact network lists and meet and interact with other students locally. We also hold regional events where we invite students to come together for lectures, workshops and networking.
