My enrollment into the Bachelor Program of Management Studies at Ashworth University in 2008 has been one of the paramount decisions that I have made.  Instant improvements have been made to my educational, career, and personal goals. As a mom and a professional woman, my aspirations center on succeeding to the highest possible level for myself and my family. The courses outlined in the bachelor program have made the change from mom and professional to student as swift as possibly especially with the introductory course named Becoming a Master Student. My time management skills have greatly improved and I am currently finding myself having free time, something that was definitely impossible a year ago. With the ability to use the student forum on the student portal, I have been able to stay motivated by my interaction with facilitators and other students. Ashworth University has made it easy to stay interactive by offering different optional activities for students; one such example was the Ashworth Moms Diary where daily entries about student moms experiences could be entered in a journal for others to read and follow on achievements made. Now I am in the third semester and it feels great knowing that I am closer to my goals than I was one year ago. If I had to do it again, I would definitely choose Ashworth University!

I am a Trained Teacher with a first class honours Bachelor in Education degree. For the past eight years I have been working with the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, a government organization, in a management position. Although I have been exposed to in service training and formal courses in Management Principles, I realized that my effectiveness as a manager would be appreciably enhanced by exposure to training at another level.

The course with the University of Leicester covering areas such as Implementing Strategies, Strategies in action, Finance & Growth Strategies, Strategic Marketing and Total Quality Management are areas which are relevant to my present field of work. These will certainly and have already started to enhance my own effectiveness on the job. The structure of the programme allowed me to put in practice some of the lessons learned while I was still a student.

Jamaica is a developing country that requires an ever increasing cadre of trained professionals .who are committed to efficiency and effectiveness in the various public sector entities. The University of Leicester’s MBA has allowed me to take to my work a greater accountability and quality delivery of services always bearing in mind efficiency and a satisfied clientele.

As a result of the course I will be in a better position to increase significantly my contribution to national development.

I recommend this institution and its course to anyone who seeks further development as an individual and a worker.

I signed up with the college from February’08 and it has brought me great pleasure to be able to continue my studies with such a student friendly educational institution as the Ashworth College. The college has extended my course term when it seemed difficult to continue due to my many challenges during the past year and this is working out great. I have resumed my course and I can find all the support I need online. Although it has been challenging with reference to shipment of course literature, the fact is that I can always call and someone is always ready and willing to help.

Thank you Ashworth College for making it possible!

When I started looking for an MBA programme, there were four things that I considered to be very important to me.

1) What the programme would offer me in terms of my academic development

2) How the programme could change me as a person

3) Flexibility

4) The quality of the certificate I would gain

The Leicester programme afforded me all four of these things. The course was intense and challenging but it was also engaging and provided me with relevant and up to date theory, that I could immediately apply to my career at the time.  As a senior manager within the financial services industry, the critical thinking skills and business knowledge gained from the programme proved to be invaluable.

As I started the MBA programme, flexibility was of utmost importance as I needed a course that would allow me the opportunity to balance the rigours of a demanding full-time job, along with my studies.  Flexibility became even more critical than ever to me, after I got married and later, also became a father.  Soon the demands of balancing a full-time and challenging career, a new family and my studies started to become all but overwhelming.  With strong support from both the University and their agents however, I was encouraged to persevere and complete the programme.

Since completing the programme, both my personal and professional outlooks have changed.  On reflection, I think the course was designed with as much intent to influence the way students think and approach problems, as it was to develop managerial skills.  Armed with the additional knowledge and skills gained from the course and an increased level of self confidence, I decided to give up my banking position, to pursue a career in management consultancy.  A few months later, I am pleased to report that I have successfully started my own business (RSJ Consulting) and am now providing consultancy services to a number of organisations across the Caribbean region.

Not only does the Leicester programme teach management skills, but the University itself demonstrates the results that can be achieved by utilising the same knowledge that it is passing to its students.  During my 2 1/2 years on the programme, I have seen the University develop and implement strategies to upgrade its profile and the quality of the programmes it offers.  The University's significant upward movement in the league tables is testimony to its success.  This to me, even more than the AMBA rating, speaks to the quality of the programme and confirms that the skills I have learnt are practical and when applied in the real world can produce positive results.

I started the programme in January 2005, having been introduced to it by my Supervisor who was then also pursuing the MBA programme. Studying and working full time in the communications and marketing sectors was a challenge, but I was highly motivated to complete my studies, as I always like to finish what I started. I found that participating in Summer School and the various programmes organized by the local resource center provided me with strong support and helped push me towards the finish line. I would encourage all students to utilize all the resources available through the University Leicester and EFA Learning to help realize the dream of having an MBA education.

Thank you Ashworth for your well rounded course in Web Site Design. I started this course because I was very excited about the mechanics of developing a good web site. I had no prior experience but thanks to the education I received at Ashworth I am more than prepared to start creating and maintaining my own web sites! Ashworth’s well rounded curriculum tackled both the practical and theoretical side of the subject. I was able to work at my own pace and at time convenient to me. Ashworth provided me with excellent text books and data disks so that I could get hands on experience in creating websites. I believe Ashworth understands our needs and works around that to provide affordability and convenience. Thanks!!!

As a Human Resources and Business Consultant, Distance Learning was the only viable option for me to gain the business and management knowledge and skills needed to assist my customers in their growth and development.

I chose the University of Leicester for it provided many advantages (1) it has international appeal (2) the strength of the program instructions and study materials and (3) its flexibility.

The course materials are extremely well written and practical and exceeded by expectations. Through this I was able to develop processes that led to success and gained confidence along the way. I now feel comfortable in areas of management which were not familiar to me. I am already using my new skills to maximize benefits to my customers

My relationship with EFA staff is good,e.g emails are answered promptly. My telephone calls are handled professionally. I found the staff to be courteous, willing to assist in finding solutions to my problems. Therefore, I recommend Education for Advancement (EFA) to anyone who is seeking to increase their knowledge, skills and abilities.
